Legal Window Tint Limits in Illinois

Illinois Window Tint Rules

✔️ Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in (VLT – Visible Light Transmission).
✔️ Rear Side Windows: Can be any darkness if you have side mirrors.
✔️ Back Window: Can be any darkness if you have side mirrors.
✔️ Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed only on the top 6 inches of the windshield.
✔️ Reflectivity: Tint must not be more reflective than a standard window.
✔️ Medical Exemptions: Some medical conditions may qualify for darker tint with a doctor’s note and proper permit.
