Frequently Asked Questions

What services does Auto Style PPF offer? We specialize in three core services for every type of vehicle from daily drivers to exotic supercars: custom vinyl color‑change wraps, paint protection film (PPF), and ceramic window tinting.

Why choose a professional installer instead of DIY kits? Professional installation guarantees factory‑level fit and finish, proper surface prep, seamless edges, and full manufacturer warranty coverageb outcomes that DIY kits rarely achieve.

Vinyl Wrap

How long does a vinyl wrap last? With premium materials from 3M™ and Avery Dennison® and proper after‑care, a full wrap typically looks great for 6–8 years in the Midwest climate.

What warranty do you provide on wraps?

  • Installer warranty: 3 years against lifting, bubbling, or peeling caused by workmanship.

  • Manufacturer warranty: 6–8 years (varies by color/finish) covering material defects such as fading or cracking.

Can you match any color or finish? Absolutely. Choose from hundreds of gloss, matte, satin, metallic, chameleon, and textured films or ask us to custom‑print bespoke graphics.

Will you remove parts of the car to hide edges? Yes. Bumpers, headlights/taillights, door handles, mirrors, antennas, side‑moldings, and badges are carefully removed. This lets us tuck film behind panels so the wrap looks like paint no visible edges from 1 foot away.

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

What is PPF and how is it different from a wrap? PPF is a 8 mil‑thick, self‑healing polyurethane layer designed to absorb rock chips, scratches, and road debris while remaining virtually invisible. A vinyl wrap is thinner, purely cosmetic, and doesn’t self‑heal.

How long does PPF last? Our Premium and Ultimate PPF packages come with a 10‑year manufacturer warranty against yellowing, cracking, and delamination. Real‑world lifespan is often longer with proper maintenance.

Do you offer colored or matte PPF? Yes choose gloss, satin/matte, or color‑infused films to both protect and restyle your vehicle in one step.

Will the film’s edges be visible? No. We use wrap‑around and bulk‑cut techniques, extending film around panel edges and tucking it behind trim so the install is virtually undetectable.

Rayno and Xpel

Window Tint

What types of film do you install? We offer nano‑ceramic and carbon‑ceramic hybrid films both metal‑free for zero interference with GPS, radio, or mobile signals.

What shades are available? Choose visible‑light‑transmission (VLT) levels from 5% (limo) to 70% (nearly clear). We’ll help you meet Illinois tint laws while achieving your desired look.

How long does a tint appointment take? A typical sedan or SUV is completed in 2–3 hours. You can wait in our lounge or drop off your vehicle.

What warranty is included? All ceramic and carbon films come with a lifetime warranty against bubbling, discoloration, and peeling for as long as you own the vehicle.

Our Process & After‑Care

How do you prepare the car before installation? We start with a thorough wash, chemical decontamination, clay‑bar treatment, and panel wipe‑down in our climate‑controlled bay to ensure perfect adhesion.

How long will my car be in the shop?

  • Full vinyl color‑change wrap: 4–6 business days.

  • Full front PPF (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, headlights): 1–2 days.

  • Full‑body PPF: 4–5 days.

When can I wash the car after the service? Wait 5–7 days before the first wash and avoid automatic brushes. Hand wash only, using pH‑neutral soap and microfiber mitts.

How do I clean and maintain the wrap/PPF/tint?

  • Use mild, wax‑free automotive shampoo.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals (e.g., bug/tar remover) for the first month.

  • Apply ceramic spray sealant every 6 months to vinyl or PPF for easier cleaning.

Can you remove or replace existing film? Yes, we professionally remove old wraps, PPF, or tint without damaging OEM paint or glass. Contact us for a removal quote.

Technical & Maintenance

Can I ceramic coat over my vinyl wrap or PPF? Yes! In fact, we highly recommend it. A ceramic coating adds an extra layer of UV protection and creates a hydrophobic surface that makes washing your wrapped car much easier. We offer ceramic coating packages specifically formulated for film.

What happens if the PPF gets scratched? Our PPF features a "self-healing" top coat. For light swirls and surface scratches, simply park the car in the sun or apply modest heat (like warm water), and the film will return to its original smooth finish.

Does a wrap or PPF damage the original paint? Quite the opposite. These films act as a barrier against UV rays and debris. When professionally removed, the factory paint underneath is typically in the exact same condition it was the day the film was applied, which helps maintain your vehicle’s resale value.

Can I use a pressure washer on my wrapped vehicle? Yes, but with caution. Keep the nozzle at least 12–18 inches away from the surface and avoid aiming the spray directly at the edges of the film, as high pressure can cause the edges to lift.

Customization & Special Requests

Can you wrap just the interior trim or the roof? Absolutely. We offer "partial wraps." Common requests include "blacking out" a roof to create a panoramic look, "chrome deletes" (covering chrome trim with black vinyl), and wrapping interior console pieces to hide scratches or change the aesthetic.

Do you offer "Stealth" or Matte conversions? Yes. If you have a gloss car but want a matte look, we can apply Satin/Stealth PPF. This protects the car while completely transforming the finish from shiny to a smooth, frosted satin appearance.

Do you tint windshields? We offer ceramic "Air Blue" or clear ceramic films for windshields. These are designed to block nearly 100% of UV rays and significant heat without noticeably darkening the glass, protecting your dashboard and keeping the cabin much cooler.

Logistics & Payments

Do I need to clean my car before bringing it in? While we perform a multi-stage decontamination wash as part of our process, we ask that the vehicle be reasonably clean (no heavy mud or excessive road grime) so we can accurately inspect the paint for pre-existing damage during check-in.

Do you offer a shuttle service or loaner cars? We currently offer a local drop-off service within a certain radius of our Sugar Grove studio. Please mention this when booking so we can coordinate our schedule.

What forms of payment do you accept? We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and cash. For larger projects (like full-body PPF or full wraps), we require a deposit to secure your appointment and order specific materials.

Local Climate

How does Illinois road salt affect the film? Road salt can be abrasive and corrosive. We recommend more frequent rinsing during the winter months to prevent salt buildup on the edges of the film. Ceramic coatings are particularly helpful here as they prevent the salt from "sticking" to the wrap.

Is it safe to have film installed during the winter? Yes. Our studio is climate-controlled to the ideal temperature for film adhesion. We also "post-heat" every vehicle to ensure the adhesive is fully set before the car returns to the cold Chicago-land elements.

Located in the heart of the Fox Valley, Auto Style PPF proudly serves vehicle owners across the western Chicago suburbs from our premier studio in Sugar Grove, Illinois. We are the go-to destination for high-end paint protection and styling for drivers in Naperville, Warrenville, and Aurora, as well as neighbors in St. Charles, Batavia, and Geneva. Whether you are commuting from Montgomery, North Aurora, or Yorkville, our shop is conveniently accessible via I-88 and US-30, offering world-class vinyl wraps and ceramic tinting to the entire local community.
